Tool Introduction

RD sampler is a full bore sampler used in casing wells and operated by annular pressure. It is mainly used to obtain formation fluid samples of downhole pressure status in full bore formation measurement operations.

Structural characteristics

① During the process of lowering the pipe column into the well, the shear pin keeps the operating core shaft in the open state of the sampler;

② Can maintain the full diameter state before and after sampling;

③ The valve can be operated for sampling at any stage during the testing process without affecting the subsequent operations;

④ The sampling chamber of the valve is equipped with a piston propulsion device. After the tool is lifted to the ground, the collected sample can be completely transferred to other sample bottles under high pressure for high-pressure physical property analysis;

⑤ In underground operations, the action of the valve is one-time, and once the sampler is trapped, it cannot be opened again. If different stages of testing need to be sampled separately, several sets of samplers need to be added according to different levels of operating pressure;

The operating pressure setting of the RD sampler is usually separated from the operating pressure of other tools by about 1000-1500 psi. When sampling is required, the operating pressure is applied from the annulus to break the rupture disk, cut off the shear pin, and trap the formation fluid in the sampling chamber with the operating core axis upward. Once the sampler is trapped, it cannot be opened again. The tool remains in a full bore state. When a sample needs to be transferred on the ground, the transfer device is connected to transfer the high-pressure sample into the sample bottle for physical property analysis.
