Tool Introduction:

Ball seat is a downhole tool that can block oil pipes after pitching, used to seal liquid pressure and set hydraulic packers; Multi stage ball seat is a type of ball seat that can accommodate multiple balls and each ball can form a seal. Its supporting column structure consists of a hydraulic packer and a multi-stage ball seat from top to bottom.

The ball seat is located at the lower end of the hydraulic packer, and temporary sealing of the pipe column below the hydraulic packer is achieved by throwing a ball into the ball seat. To provide a pathway for hydraulic packers to pressurize the tubing, and to provide temporary string plugging for acidification, fracturing, or testing operations.

Structural features:

① Before going down the well, the ball seat is fixed with a shear pin. After the shear pin is cut, the ball and the ball seat fall off simultaneously;

② By installing different numbers of shear pins, the pressure value of the ball seat of the hydraulic packer's sealing pressure gauge can be met.

Operation:

The lower end of the pipe column is connected to a hydraulic packer and a ball seat. The designed ball seat has a shooting down pressure higher than the complete setting pressure of the packer. During the process of lowering the pipe column, the oil pipe is in a connected state with the wellbore. After the pipe column is lowered into place, the wellhead throws the ball, and the ball is inserted into the ball seat, separating the oil pipe from the wellbore. The oil pipe is in a closed state, and the wellhead pressurizes to start setting the packer; If it is a multi-stage ball seat, when there are metal sheets or other impurities inside the ball seat, causing the ball and the ball seat to be unable to be sealed or not sealed tightly, resulting in the inability to squeeze during the sealing period of the packer, in order to maintain the sealing of the packer, the upper level ball is added to the wellhead to continue to press the packer, up to three balls can be added, and two remedial actions can be taken. After the packer operation is completed, the ball seat is pressed down, the oil pipe is connected to the wellbore, and a production channel is established.
